Retirement Figures works with or without an account. By default your plan is stored only in this browser (see Data privacy). Creating a free account is optional - its main benefit is syncing your plans across devices and keeping an automatic backup in the cloud.

Create an account

Use the Get Started button at the top and choose With an account. You can sign up two ways:

• Email and password - you verify your email address once.
• Sign in with Google - one click, with no separate password to manage.

When you first sign in, any plan you already built without an account is carried up to your new account automatically, so nothing is lost.

Use it across devices

Once you have an account, sign in on any device - your phone, tablet, and computer all show the same plans, and edits sync automatically. This is the one thing a no-account setup can't do: without an account, your plans live only on the single browser that created them.

How to tell where your plan is stored

A small icon in the top bar shows where the plan you're viewing lives. Hover over it for the full explanation:

• Laptop (grey) - local-only: no account, so your plans are saved only in this browser.
• Cloud with a check (green) - signed in: your plans are saved to your account and sync across your devices. A cloud with a lock means end-to-end encryption is turned on.
• Cloud outline (amber) - signed out: you have an account but aren't signed in on this browser. Your plans are safe in the cloud; sign in to reach them (until then you're viewing demo mode).

Keep your synced plans private

Want your cloud plans private even from us? You can turn on end-to-end encryption, which encrypts them in your browser with a passphrase only you know. It's optional and off by default.

Signing out

Signing out returns the app to demo mode (read-only example plans). Your real plans stay safe in the cloud and reappear the moment you sign back in. Because your plans sync to the cloud, signing out doesn't leave an editable copy of your plan on the device - which is what you want on a shared or public computer.

Plus and accounts are separate

If you subscribe to Plus while signed in, it's tied to your account and follows you across devices. In no-account mode, Plus is unlocked with a license key instead. Either way, one plan is free and additional plans need Plus.

Prefer no account? That's fully supported. Just export a backup now and then so a cleared browser doesn't take your plans with it.
